THANK YOU to St. Nicholas Center for Children and
Families for Inclusion for sponsoring two years of certification with KultureCity!
This sponsorship means that we can continue our mission of ensuring that the Children's Museum and the Nature and Science Center at Port Wonder are safe and comfortable spaces for ALL visitors to learn and make memories.
According to Kulture City's website, 1 in 4 individuals has sensory processing needs. Having a Kulture City certification means that all of our employees and board of directors are trained on how to appropriately serve our friends with sensory needs.

The Children's Museum Playground Exhibit

The Children’s Museum Playground Exhibit at Port Wonder will be a fully inclusive play experience for children of all abilities. This gives everyone an equal opportunity to actively learn, discover, and play alongside siblings, parents, and friends. Giving a child with disability whether that be a physical, a learning, or a mental disability the chance to feel included not only benefits the child, but it benefits the greater world around them.
Our project partners are raising funds to help this dream become a reality with a goal of reaching $800,000 by September 2026! Money raised will fund the playground equipment, padding, canopy shades, benches, and fencing necessary to ensure a safe environment for children to explore and enjoy an outdoor space created just for them. Please consider donating to this worthy endeavor so no child is left behind and everyone can play together while visiting the Children’s Museum at Port Wonder!
For more information, please email allyson@swlakids.org!
Our goal is to educate children through play and discovery while aiding in a child’s development and understanding of the world around them and encourage a lifelong passion for the arts and sciences. This includes exhibits, workshops, and other activities for the children's benefit.
