Booking Your Field Trip
The Children's Museum and LDWF Nature and Science Center invite you
and your class to explore the world around you at Port Wonder!
Museum Requirements

Field Trips can last 3 to 4 hours depending on group size. Please be on time.

A 24-hour notice of any cancellation is required.

One chaperone 18 years of age or older for every 10 children is required. Chaperones should help enforce museum rules. Children will rotate with a museum staff person.

All children must wear nametags, showing the child’s first name and group/teacher name.

Please let the office know at the time of scheduling if you would like to bring your lunch to eat in our party room area. We strongly suggest this. Please clean your area when you are finished.

Review our Museum Rules listed below with your group and listen to announcements while visiting. Please help the museum staff enforce these policies.

Group rates apply to 10 or more people that are prescheduled and meet chaperone requirements. All groups are subject to approval by management. We will call to confirm your visit one week prior.

The museum gift shop offers a large variety of items and range in price from $2 on up. If your students plan to shop with us, please send money in a labeled Ziploc bag to make their checkout process quick and easy.

Group Admission Price

Group rates are available Monday through Friday only unless approved by management.

A group consists of 10 or more paying customers and meets chaperone requirements.

Admission for prescheduled groups is $20.00 per guest including children and chaperones. (Calcasieu Parish Schools are $19.50 per guest) This price includes admission to both sides of Port Wonder.

Teachers and Paraprofessionals are FREE with a valid school ID.

Infants 23 months and under are FREE.
General Museum Rules
Please read and ENFORCE museum rules. For the safety of the children, it is important that all children remain with their assigned chaperone at ALL TIMES.

There is NO running! Please walk.

Clean up after playing in each exhibit area.

An adult must accompany children at all times.

No gum, candy, food or drink is allowed in the exhibit areas.

Socks and shoes must be worn at all times while in the museum.

If you need help, please ask a staff member wearing a museum apron.

Please clean up the Maker’s Space after use. All supplies should be placed where they belong.

Calcasieu Crawlers is for toddlers and infants only. Children four years of age and older may not play in this area. This area is off limits to school aged children.

Please do not touch any of the glass aquariums in the Nature and Science Center. The Touch Tank area requires staff supervision. Children must wash their hands after exploring this area.

Exterior doors in the exhibit areas are to only be used in an emergency. This is for everyone’s safety.
