The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries’ Nature and Science Center at Port Wonder includes freshwater and saltwater aquariums with interactive exhibits. The center is the first of its kind in Louisiana and a must-see experience.

Teeming with life.

Our freshwater and saltwater aquariums are a showcase of the diverse ecosystems in Southwest Louisiana and statewide. Each aquarium contains fish caught by our own Wildlife and Fisheries biologists specifically for these exhibits.

Interactive Fishing Education

Our Fish Lousiana Challenge game allows young anglers to choose the appropriate bait, rod, and reel for some of their favorite fishing locations. So let the littles cast a line and laissez les bons temps rouler!

Eye level, kid level: Our Touch Tank

Learn about aquatic animals native to Louisiana in our Touch Tank. Young visitors get direct, hands-on interaction with aquatic life. The Touch Tank allows for gentle interaction that allows visitors to feel textures and movements of the creatures.

Visit the City's Gator Pond!

See alligators and more.

Step outside Port Wonder and visit the city's enclosed Gator Pond where
you can see alligators basking, frogs croaking, and turtles diving.

Cypress Alligator Pond is an outdoor feature that is now a neighbor
to Port Wonder experiences. Admission is free.
